Hi I'm Alex,
An experience designer who worked in innovation labs in silicon valley, start ups in NYC and curious researcher of humanity, culture and growth.
Turned Guide in pursuit of a purpose bigger than me.
Heres my winding origin story:
After years of burn out, losing said startup job, and finally getting out of a toxic relationship, I felt lost. Started soul searching and living as a digital nomad.
I called my best friend about being lost, stuck, depressed, and unsure of what I wanted out my life. We would ask each other the tough often avoidable questions with open arms. As ways to support each other, we would ask how can I best support you with in this moment. Its one of those very human moments when you realize, we truly aren't meant to live this life alone.
A lot of what is missing in our world today is a desire to deeply connect with ourselves and connect with others. We are starved of real human connection.
So I flew to India to see my BFF 2024, and made a party game to do just that. Gather people for conversations to connect deeper. To skip the small talk at bars and parties. Designed with roles to create a diagloge and dig a little deeper and learn to offer support in new ways. I called it Trauma Drama.
A Name That Shouted (Before You Even Opened the Box)
When I first created Trauma Drama, it was designed to cut through the noise. Bright, bold, and slightly chaotic, it demanded your attention. And it worked—for the creatives, the curious, the weirdos, the therapy-goers, the late-night feelers.
But for many, the name alone felt like emotional heavy lifting. It asked too much before offering a hand. People hesitated to pick it up, unsure if they were ready to confront something intense.
Which is funny… because once you actually played the game, it wasn’t about trauma. It was about connection.
There were tears, sure. But there was also laughter. Silly confessions. Moments of “oh my god, me too.” People walked away feeling lighter, more seen, more supported.
Bigger than a party game. It’s a well-being tool.
I took the game everywhere—bars, dinner parties, rooftop hangouts, parks. And I saw the same thing unfold every time: people dropped their armor. Even the most socially anxious person would open up after a question or two.
Some stats:
-
25% of attendees at our game nights bought the game afterward.
-
People played it with coworkers, partners, siblings, new friends, old friends.
-
Conversations lasted hours. People made new friends. Two strangers went to Mexico together.
That’s when I knew: this isn’t just a party game. It's a tool for connection.
A way for people to remember their stories, be supported, and grow their emotional intelligence.
Soul Friends is Born
So here we are. Same mission. New name.
Soul Friends is a remembering of something lost. A love letter to the real ones—the friends who make you feel safe enough to be seen. The ones who stay up late with you asking big questions. The ones you meet on your healing journey who become your chosen family.
It’s the energy of a slow dinner party, long talks under soft lights, the kind of connection that lingers. It’s not trauma bonding. It’s soul connecting.
Why Soul Friends?
Because the world doesn’t need more small talk.
We’re exhausted. We’re burned out. We’re craving depth, but we don’t always know how to ask for it. This game makes it easy to invite it in. No pressure. No performance. Just curiosity.
Whether you're navigating a life pivot, a corporate hustler seeking softer spaces, a Type A host craving meaning, or a spiritually-curious skeptic who still reads your birth chart on the low... this game is for you. This brand is for you.
We’re rooted in warm familiarity—modern yet ancestral. Think tropical nights, grounding drums, the smell of jasmine and citrus, the sound of laughter over dinner. The visual identity will carry that essence: tactile, natural, glowing from within.
Because emotional connection isn’t just a concept. It’s a feeling.
The Vision: Beyond the Game
This isn’t just a product. It’s the beginning of a movement.
